Jonathan Waltner - Director of Technology

Our First Q&A is with our Director of Product Jonathan Waltner.

Q: Who is your tech inspiration?

John Resig, creator of jQuery. I don't think anyone has done as much to advance front end web development.

Q: What is your strongest computer language?

Q: What is your favorite movie?

Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring. I bought the books in third grade, and the movie was exactly what I had hoped it would be.

Q: What is your favorite music or musician?

This week? Sigur Ros.

Q: What music/musician do you code to?

I switch between high energy electronica (house, dubstep, breaks) and slower melodic stuff pretty regularly. Depends on whether or not I had a big lunch and am feeling sleepy.

Q: What website can you NOT live without?

Stack Overflow. Also, Google to help me find specific Stack Overflow questions. Not only can you usually find an answer for what is stumping you, but you can also find links to some pretty cool libraries and repositories.

Q: Do you have a tattoo? If you could get one, what would it be?

Nope. Probably a UPC barcode for some mundane food item that you can acquire in any grocery store, like a can of creamed corn. It would have to be scannable though, otherwise there is no point.

Q: If you could do ANYTHING, what would it be?

Flip a coin. Heads, I would create a web application or service that completely changes some established societal norm. Tails, I would buy a small farm and see if I could survive only on things I can produce myself. Either one would be a pretty great challenge, but they probably wouldn't be able to be done simultaneously.
